Trauma Support & Psychiatric Care in Oregon & Washington
Mental health support for adults and teens struggling with the lasting effects of trauma, stress, and emotional overwhelm.
Trauma Can Continue Affecting You Long After the Event Is Over
At Compass Psychiatric Wellness, we provide trauma-informed psychiatric care for adults and older teens throughout Oregon and Washington. Our goal is to help clients better understand how trauma affects the mind and body while creating treatment plans that support emotional stability, nervous system regulation, and improved daily functioning.
Trauma does not always look the way people expect it to. Some people experience clear, identifiable traumatic events. Others carry the effects of chronic stress, emotionally unsafe environments, difficult relationships, medical experiences, loss, instability, or years of feeling constantly on edge.
Even when life “looks fine” on the outside, trauma can continue impacting sleep, relationships, emotional regulation, concentration, motivation, physical tension, and overall wellbeing.
Many clients struggling with trauma describe feeling
Emotionally overwhelmed or easily triggered
Constantly tense, hyperaware, or unable to relax
Exhausted from always being in survival mode
Disconnected from themselves or others
Stuck in cycles of anxiety, shutdown, avoidance, or burnout
Emotionally reactive or numb
Unable to fully rest or feel safe
How We Approach Trauma Support
Trauma affects every person differently, which is why treatment should feel individualized, collaborative, and paced appropriately for each client.
Our providers recognize that trauma impacts both emotional and physical wellbeing. Symptoms may show up as anxiety, irritability, panic, sleep difficulties, emotional shutdown, overwhelm, poor concentration, depression, chronic stress, or feeling emotionally unsafe even in everyday situations.
We take time to understand your experiences, symptoms, stressors, and goals before making treatment recommendations.
Treatment for Trauma May Include
Psychiatric medication management when appropriate
Support for anxiety, sleep disruption, emotional overwhelm, and nervous system dysregulation
Education about trauma responses and how trauma impacts functioning
Collaborative care focused on safety, stabilization, and long-term wellbeing
Coordination with therapy or other supports when beneficial
Lifestyle recommendations that support stress reduction and emotional regulation
Our role is not to rush your process or minimize your experiences. We focus on helping clients feel supported, understood, and more capable of moving through life without feeling trapped in constant survival mode.
